Recurring dreams: Why do you keep on having the same dream?

Most of the time, dreams seem to be pretty random, but if you are having the same dream over and over again, this might be the reason why.

I've always found it amazing how our mind is able to create such elaborate stories and characters without us being conscious, and I always make a big effort to remember them so I can analyze their meaning or marble at the storyline, but once in a while a recurring dream pops up, what does that mean?

Recurring dreams: Why do you keep on having the same dream?

Recurring dreams are the kind of dream that keeps coming back, they are generally the sign that there is an important aspect that is somehow worrying that you have to pay attention to – this is why they are usually nightmares.

I often like to keep dream journals to make this process as conscious as possible. It is also fun!

The dream does not have to be exactly the same, but there are recurrent themes or elements. This is then an emotional issue that hasn't yet been resolved. It is also the case that these recurring dreams are connected to a recurring behavioral pattern that has to do with your personality – for example, if you are often chased in your dreams, it might be an indication that you usually tend to avoid confrontation. If there is a change in your behavior, these dreams might actually stop.

How to make it stop

The best way to stop dreaming the same thing is to identify the cause of the dream. What is bothering you? What emotional trauma are you trying to heal? I often like to keep dream journals to make this process as conscious as possible. It is also fun!
