How to conquer the fear of the unknown and take a leap of faith

Fighting your fears is not easy, it's only natural to stay in your comfort zone. If you are thinking of taking a leap of faith, this might help you.

One of the things that frighten me the most is definitely uncertainty – especially if I'm not feeling positive. However, most of the time what makes me wallow in negativity is not making a change, so it becomes a vicious circle: I'm feeling uncomfortable due to a certain aspect, yet I don't feel brave enough to take a leap of faith. What I've learned so far is that there is no escaping from fear, you have to navigate the seas of uncertainties to get to the bottom of a well.

How to conquer the fear of the unknown and take a leap of faith

In all aspects of our lives there comes a time when you have to take a leap of faith, be it in a relationship, starting a new business, or making a big change in your life – it is just part of the human experience. You can either choose to stay where you are or give something new a chance.

Accept that it is a risk

Most people stay in their comfort zone because it means not giving up any of the possibilities. Not making a decision gives you the illusion of having possibilities – in reality, you have none because you haven't tried. Let me explain, for instance, you are planning to move to another city, but you are scared of not being able to adapt. As long as you don't make any move, you might think that you have both possibilities at hand, but you don't, because you are still in the same place. Unless you try, you'll never know. You either accept the risk and acknowledge that moving could be difficult at first and you face your fears, or you stay. There are always two sides to the same coin, what if it turns out to be an exciting phase of your life?

You will be doubtful

What I've learned so far is that there is no escaping from fear, you have to navigate the seas of uncertainties to get to the bottom of a well.

Anyone when faced with the opportunity to make a major change in their life faces self-doubt. You are not alone. The difference between those who achieve their goals and those who don't is that successful people go past self-doubt and fear and dare venture into the world. The question is: Who do you choose to be?

Be yourself

When you are yourself, people notice it. Be confident in whatever you do, know your worth, and opportunities will appear. Just don't worry about the rest, be the best version of yourself. If you like painting, invest your time in it and paint the best picture you've ever painted. Whatever you do, do it first for yourself, in the end, who cares what others say?

The bottom line

My advice is: Take the bull by its horns, try as many times as it takes to get where you want to be. I know it might sound cheesy, but it is true: we only get the chance to experience life once and make the most of it.
