5 Items to take into account when considering self care

Self care starts by checking if there is an area of your life that you have been neglecting. I think that the area where we fail the most is performing regular check-ups on our feelings, especially in the case of those who are not used to going to therapy. This is a collection of my experience on the journey to wellness and self care and some advice I have found the most useful.

Begin by sitting in a quiet place with a beautiful piece of paper or notebook that invites you to write and go through these questions.

Wrrite down your ideas.

1. Prioritize

Ask yourself what matters to you, only when you know what you want to achieve, you'll be able to do it. It might be the case that you don't know what's important for you, then start working on that. Make a list of the things you value the most in your life, what things you'd like to try and how you feel when you do it.

2. Strengths

See what your strengths are and develop them the most, it will help build healthy self-esteem and a sense of self-worth.

3. Weaknesses

See when you feel depleted either emotionally, mentally, or physically and do less of it. Focus on your strengths not what makes you weak.

4. Think of alternatives

Think about what could make you feel better, it could be something as simple as going for a walk every day or calling a close friend once a week. Write several alternatives on a piece of paper try to get to 10.

5. Choose

Choose 3 alternatives that will impact your life the most, and turn them into goals. The alternatives should be the easiest or the ones that give you the most pleasure.

Try not to stress out about these goals, remember, they should be something that makes you take care of yourself, not another chore added to your list of worries.
