We've probably been told that we shouldn't drink calories countless times in the past, but what does that really mean?
When it comes to weight loss most of us focus on the food not on what we drink. As a matter of fact, we might actually need to revise our drinking habits to level up our diet.
A national survey stated that on average American adults drank about 425 a day, a whopping figure if you consider that total recommended calories is around 2000.
Incorporate these drinking habits to level up your weight loss
1. Drink water regularly
Start reducing your sugar intake by drinking more water and less sugary drinks. Replacing a bottle of soda a day could cut around 50,000 calories in a year.
Only drink alcohol on special occasions, as a can of beer is about 150 calories and a glass of wine 125 calories. If you have two drinks a day, then you'll be adding 1,500 calories a week -with little nutritional value.
2. Say yes to unsweetened tea
Start your day with a cup of tea, some teas give you a metabolism boost and tea flavonoids can actually improve blood sugar and insulin activity.
3. You can have coffee too
Black coffee is calorie-free and it increases metabolism to make your body burn more calories. In addition, it might blunt your appetite and soothe your cravings.
