The most common skincare myths, debunked!

Everywhere, people are always repeating things they heard or that some “doctor friend” told them, but these things aren’t always reliable. So, here’s a list of 5 myths that are going to be challenged.

We've heard a lot of things about skincare, but are all those things true?

1- Can I use his razor?

There’s nothing wrong with using his razor, bear in mind that it will always be better if you use your own one because a dull razor can cause nicks. If in a hurry, go ahead and use it.

2- Women and men deodorants and antiperspirants

They’re totally interchangeable, antiperspirants and deodorants contain the same ingredients for both men and women. Their only difference is the fragrance. If you don't mind the smell, it’s ok.

3-Stretch marks and lotions

There’s this belief that there are some magical creams, oils, and lotions that say they can prevent stretch marks, that’s not true. The actual truth is that stretch marks are caused by rapid weight gain or weight loss.

Some women don't get stretch marks because their skin reacts well to expansion. Others get stretch marks because genetically, their skin does not.

4- Are skin problems derived from lack of washing?

False. Acne, rosacea, scars from pimples, or even blackheads do not appear because you are not washing your skin enough. In fact, it is the other way around because over-cleansing your skin can be what's causing the problem in the first place.  

5-Drinking plenty of water keeps your skin moist?

Wrong. No matter how much people have said this, it is not true. It is, of course, good for your insides, keeps you hydrated, and away from sugary soft drinks that are full of empty calories and too much sugar but NOT for your skin.
