Tea tree is a multitasking oil, but use it incorrectly and it might irritate your skin.
'Tea tree oil has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties, this is why it is great at fighting acne and other inflammatory skin conditions. But just because it is a natural product it doesnt mean you can apply it to your skin without any considerations.
How to use tea tree for brighter skin
Because of its antimicrobial properties, tea tree oil can keep acne-causing bacteria at bay and soothe inflammation. However, pure tea tree oil can cause skin irritation, and end up drying out your skin or causing the opposite effect: triggering an overproduction of oil.
If you have 100% pure tea tree oil, you have to use a carrier oil or lotion before applying it. Don't apply more than 1 or 2 drops topically to avoid redness and irritation.
You can also choose store-bought formulas containing tea tree oil to get the right ratio and avoid causing any inflammatory reaction on your skin.
