All beauty bloggers, Instagram influencers and dermatologists seem to recommend washing your face in the morning and at night. This might be true for some skin types, but, is that so for everyone?
As a skincare lover, I’ve always made sure to cleanse my face in the morning, at night, and basically whenever I feel like my face needs it, but, could that be making matters worse?
As a general rule, if you cleanse your face at night, in the morning is not necessary to cleanse it deeply –if your face has not come in contact with anything that could be harmful, simply rinsing your face with water should do.
Exceptions
Oily skin
If you have oily skin, your sebum can build up during the night. If this is your case, simply use some micellar water on a pad and gently cleanse your face, then rinse with water.
Dry skin
If your face is naturally dry or if it tends to get drier during the summer and winter, it is recommended to use a cleansing oil or balm to add a bit of hydration into the skin and rinse with a damp washcloth.
The bottom line is that you should wash your face only if you are one of the exceptions –that being said, you can rinse your face with water.
