Many of us are now working from home. What’s more, many of us will probably continue to do so even after lockdowns are lifted.

But how do you juggle work-life balance when you don’t even have separate environments to do so? We list 8 tips for staying productive at home.

1. 1. Stick to a morning routine

Having a morning routine is very important

Ask a successful person what their main secret is for a productive workday and they will say it’s the morning routine. Rolling out of bed directly to your laptop is not the greatest way to start work. Try getting up an hour or two before you’re supposed to start working. Breakfast, meditation, exercise, to-do lists… Whatever takes you to set up for the day feeling energized and ready to go.

No, we don’t mean a suit and tie or a fancy work dress. But staying in your loungewear is not going to help either. Try to dress comfortably but still in a way that won’t make you want to switch the camera off if your boss calls you. Many women swear by wearing makeup regardless of whether they’ll be staying home all day. It makes you feel better about yourself. Similarly, clothes condition us too.

If working to the re-runs of Friends is your thing, great. But for many, it’s a distraction. Silence WhatsApp groups, switch off the TV. If complete silence isn’t your thing, play some white noise. It’s great for staying focused.
